Perch Fly 2...

Ok, here's my second experiment with the cool Puglisi stuff I got the other day.  Thought this would be solid, and it will fish, but what I thought would be ok, was just to much material.  I need to try again with only 1 wrap v 2.  It's a bit thick and I dont think the nice eztaz body underneath and the olive flash hackle ribbed over that will show through as well as I'd hoped, and less material will keep slimmer in the water.

I think this will catch, but, I'm going to give it another evolution...

  1. It certainly looks buggy and fishy enough......
Tying it slimmed down may be even better.
Who knows what a fish might like that is willing to gobble up a Perch for dinner anyway........
Look forward to seeing a slimmed down version.

    1. Agreed Mel - warm water fish are not to picky most of the time. But, I'd like to see the body come through and just have the collar veil it. Plus the wet profile would be more perchy (those skinny baby perch :)). Thanks for the feedback!

  2. Will great perch pattern. Many years ago in a fly shop in VT's northeast kingdom I picked up a perch pattern much like yours.
The shop owner told me he had a hard time keeping his bins full of them.

    1. Good to know Alan! Hopefully this evening I can take some time and try again. I want to do up a few of those "Montreal Lady's of the Night" so to speak too ;)
